Neriah was born into a different time where there were two sets of people, those with the power of telekinesis and clairvoyants and those who were psychometrics and telepathic. The warring sides had been fighting so long no one really remembered why they had started but it raged on becoming bloodier with each passing year. There were pro's and con's to each side enough so that each side could never really win against the other. The ones who possessed the power of telekinesis we able to move objects including living organisms if they were strong enough; however their powers could be dulled by those who were telepathic as they could project their thoughts, memories or emotions onto a person some were powerful enough they could influence as many as 10 minds at once.

The clairvoyants could see into the future but because the future is never certain for anyone, it could change the person's future they were seeing into had to make a solid decision before they could actually view and see what would be. The more talented the person the farther into the future they could peek. On the opposite team were they psychometrics they were able to take an object and see past, present, or the future of it. Unlike the clairvoyants, an object wasn't like a person's mind and therefore even if the person's mind changed the object would still be there allowing them to be able to figure out that was the use for it or information on the  person.

Neriah was born in a so called time of peace, her mother had been special neither psychometric or telepathic but able to heal people by just placing her hands on the wound or it's exact location, everything but blown off heads she could fix. Her mother wanted a better life than what was given here, the lands between the two sets was separated by a river, and near the end where the river broke off into the sea, there was a large tree which both sides respected as a boundary where no fighting went on. It was said that the tree brought them to this place of plenty, who came first was the issue. When the fighting started back up, Neriah's mother took her in a series of tunnels away from the area, she was heading back to the tree in hopes that wherever they came from before the tree would take them back now.

Unknown to Neriah her supposed father was the leader of their faction and he was not about let their only healer and his daughter who at only 10 displayed the abilities of a psychometric 4 times her age, he had also hoped that she would be like her mother and have two abilities. Sending his troops after them he gave the order to bring Neriah back unhurt and alive but her mother was expendable. Traveling for days underground, they finally reached the mouth of the river where a small boat her mother built was waiting, however the soldiers were closing in. All in all Neriah's mother was killed the flaw of being the only healer was that she was unable to heal herself, Neriah escaped to the tree, saddened and distraught but as she put her paws on the tree's withered bark she suddenly found herself in a snow covered forest, with a large brick building.
