What it is
The fiction manager is a part of your home page that lets you submit, edit and delete stories. To access the fiction manager, log in and click the Fiction Manager item in your Home Menu.
How to submit a story
After you have logged in and are in your fiction manager, you may see a list of stories you have already submitted. At the bottom of this list - or on its own if you have no stories in the archive yet - there is a 'Submit a story' link. This will take you to the fiction submission form, a description of its fields follows:
- Title - The title of the work of fiction, might include series or chapter number
- Author's Name/Handle - Whatever handle the author goes by, defaults to your username
- Author's E-mail Address - The author's e-mail address; it is never displayed on-site unless included in the story's text
- Author's Web Site - The author's URL
- Audience - The sexual orientation of the intended audience; male and female solo obviously usually apply across multiple audiences
- Keywords - See: Keywords
- Content Rating - See: Suggestion Pandas
- Summary - Give your story a short and eye-catching description
- Type - Whether you are uploading a plain-text (no-HTML, this will probably change soon) file or pasting into the What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get editor; I highly suggest using the editor as by copy-and-pasting from most web browsers and word processors you can preserve the formatting (fonts, text size, colours etc)
- File - The location of the text file you would like to upload. Click the Browse button to find it on your machine.
- Editor - This is a formatted editor that you can copy and paste your stories from most programs to without loosing their appearance
Of course, the
Submission Rules apply to all submissions.
Approval Process
Once your story has been submitted it will appear in your fiction manager. The 'Status' field indicates whether your story is waiting for administrator review or has been archived. It may take several days for your story to be processed so please be patient.
What if my story disappears?
It was likely deleted because it violated the rules.
Editing my stories
You have the ability to edit your stories before and after they have been approved. If you need to edit your story after it has been approved, it will be re-queued for administrator approval. This means that if you need to change something hang on until you're sure you've found everything you need to change - the moderators will lock your account and throw you in the basement if you abuse your privilege to edit.
