Help > Oekaki

In this context oekaki is the practice of drawing and posting pictures completely in the web environment, your graphic editor is provided as a part of this site in the form of a java applet and your pictures are uploaded directly to the server.

  1. Log in, or if you do not have an account register one now. You do not have to be logged in to use the oekaki applet but you will not be able to save your image.
  2. Submission Rules are not in effect for oekaki, except for:
    • No images or works of fiction advocating, condoning or depicting sexual acts with or of minors will be tolerated. This includes but is not exclusive to all cub and babyfur material of a sexual nature.
    • No images or works of fiction depicting sexual acts with non-anthropomorphic animals will be allowed.
    • This means you can draw pretty much anything, but don't be a dink. If there's any question as to whether or not your doodle is appropriate to post, it probably isn't and might get deleted. I'm specifically talking about swirls and poorly drawn penises :p
  3. You will be presented with a work area, a canvas, a menu along the top and a tool box.
  4. The menu on the top reads:
    • Upload - This button will submit your drawing to the server once you are finished.
    • Float - This button pops out the workspace into its own window so you can have more room
    • Undo - Undo the last action
    • Redo - Redo last action in the undo cache
    • Fill - Switch brush to fill areas with selected colour/pattern/etc.
  5. Your toolbox comes with several aptly named buttons which bring up a corresponding menu. Most of the tools provided are similar to generic paint programs, so most artists should feel at home, feel free to play with the toolbox in the applet below.
  6. When you are finished, save your image by clicking the Upload button and provide it with a title and description on the next page.*

*NOTE The applet will retain a copy of the image you have been working on even if you move away from that page or refresh it, for as long as your browser stays open. You should always ensure that you are logged in before clicking the Upload button: if you are not, this is your last chance to do so and claim your image.

Give the oekaki toolbox a spin in the applet below, it does not save the image if you hit upload.
