Ychan won't be turning 5 for another few months but it has once again outgrown its filesystem.

There will be an interruption lasting from one half to one full hour in the wee hours of Saturday morning, EST. Sites that will be affected:

• Yiffy International
• Ychan Deluxe
• Ychan Turbo
• Ychan Mobile

During this time no user-submitted images, videos or thumbnails will load. No other BKN sites should be affected.

Update - Nov 4: Our provider issued a statement detailing the attack that they faced. Service has been mostly stable over the past couple of days and we are hopeful that the worst is behind us.

Update - 19h00: Looks like upstream spoke too soon. We are again experiencing slowness and periods of inaccessibility. There is no ETA at this time.

Our upstream ISP is currently under a DDoS attack that was, until now, mostly contained for the last three days. Although the attack is not directed at us we are experiencing intermittent downtime due to the effect it is having on our service provider's capacity. We apologize for the inconvenience while upstream technicians work to restore reliable service.

One of our ad networks has ceased operation and we're taking the opportunity to make Yiffy International and the Twin Ychans 100% ad-free for all users, registered or not. You probably hate ads, we definitely hate ads and as the market has declined in the last 2 years they have covered an ever-decreasing fraction of our operating costs. With the recent migration of our virtual machines from a collocated, wholly-owned platform to rented servers the cost of running this family of sites has gone from $575 to just under $400/month - that is about 4 times as much savings as revenue we are currently drawing from ads. The online advertising marketplace is heavily prejudiced against adult sites and we are tired of bending over backwards for peanuts while our pages load slower and look tackier than they need to. Thanks to your generosity we were able to secure alternate hosting early. On behalf of the community we thank everyone who showed their support, we would not have been able to conduct such a remarkably smooth transition without it. That being said, the transition is not completely over. The most painful part will begin tonight/tomorrow morning when the three critical virtual machines behind YI and the Ychans are powered down and migrated. At that time the sites will be rendered totally inaccessible for up to two hours. Once the sites go live again please allow up to another two hours before you begin posting; due to the nature of DNS caching you may still be connecting to our "old" version of the web server and your submissions may disappear. Unfortunately, it will not become clear whether a Content Delivery Network will need to be built immediately until the migration has completed and we know what kind of demand our sites will put on the new hardware. If it is unable to sustain all of our services with reasonable responsiveness first Ychan Deluxe will be disabled and redirected to Turbo and, as a last resort, Ychan itself may be temporarily suspended.
