Description:
"We should treat eachother as real furries knowing that when the distractions were ignored, the possibility of truth grew bigger. And even if fakers might still be amongst us, it is unlikely they'd stay around or get removed sooner or later. Those that after a while believe that they might not be furries will always stay welcome as long as they respect our community."

I have to quote this for historical purposes:
Quote:
FURDOME
You are most likely wondering what this community stands for so I'll clear that up for you right now.
Before you read further I'll just mention it in a short 3 line version so you can descide for yourself wether you want to read on or quit reading. I believe the most descent thing to do here is to respect your time.
Furdome is a community in wich certain matters are ignored to avoid the possibility that untrue furs might sign up.
We aim for furries who have a good understanding and a good connection of the animal spirit.
Our goal is to build up a community of optimistic furries that will treat one another like family or better said like "real" furries.
If you are still intrested after reading the above then I'll clarify what I've just said by explaining things a little more thoroughly.
In "ignoring" certain matters I first have to centrate myself upon the word "Yiffy" wich is the furry term for adult behavior and content. Now there's nothing wrong with sexuality in particular "if" ofcourse not taken too far but thats the same for everything in life. But seeing as a huge part of the fandom seems to "concentrate" mainly and sometimes even purely/only on Yiffy then it makes me wonder. I know for certain that an animal is not called an animal because it mates. Because if so and humans were also defined by their willingness to mate, then what realy defines us being furries? Because we mate or want to? If I bring this matter to attention a lot of (furries) people feel offended and even get enraged at me even if I never judged them, just because I let them know that eventhough sex is a part of who we are, it does not define us as furries. And this is realy the Main reason why I descided to "ban" Yiffy off my community, not because I'm not yiffy or because I might dislike it because I don't. I'm pretty yiffy myself and I'm not sorry for it. But the main reason why I banned yiffy is because it's presence is not necessary/required and because it might distract furs from the fandom's true meaning. If some realy believe they can only be themselves by spreading yiff online then perhaps they should try putting naked pictures/movies of themselves on Youtube wich itself is not advisable. The meaning of being a furry lies deep within and I think I sound clear enough when I state it reaches further then behind the zipper.
The second goal "optimism" is entirely based on the furry connection wich I believe should be present if we want to claim to be part of a furry group. Just see it this way, picture yourself in school (even if it might have been a very long time). Now think about this, would you end up standing amongst your enemies every day, or would you be in a group of friends instead? The reason why its common to be a group of friends is based on what you "have" in common. You might have your own opinions, your own personality but there are few kinds of people that might "relate" with who you might be, because underneath they are the same. I want everyone here to understand that we are all equal, no matter what age or "degree" you might have gotten in school. On Furdome Wisdom rules and intelligence follows in its footsteps. I want all furs to realise this and give the best of themselves, cheer up others so they'll gain enough strength to help themselves and eventualy others. They might even end up cheering you up one day as a thank you for making them feel better about themselves. If we make eachother feel welcome for who they are, they won't have much "lesser" days again and one day they might even learn to deal with life more easily.
We should treat eachother as real furries knowing that when the distractions were ignored, the possibility of truth grew bigger. And even if fakers might still be amongst us, it is unlikely they'd stay around or get removed sooner or later. Those that after a while believe that they might not be furries will always stay welcome as long as they respect our community.
In the fandom there may be 100+ opinions about why furs claim to be for real, but there's only 1 explenation why they might be. Because it takes one to know one. And I believe the first step into proving such statement, would be for us to be recogniced for who we claim to be.
I think this sums up the most about our community. Our goal is slow to reach but simple. It is not our goal to gain members fast, instead it is our goal to gain the best the Fandom has to offer. Thank you for taking your time in reading this. It is highly appreciated that someone "cares" wich these days is quite uncommon.

As much as I would love to tear this one apart, the flaws are so glaring that I'm going to make a rare move and say something constructive, for the benefit of the budding webmasters among us:
Using big words is dandy, using them to say a lot of nothing is offensive, and using them to prove yourself intellectually will always backfire
Second, keep in mind that a 'group' or niche (your target audience will generally consist of one or several) is defined by its constituents and their collective ideals - not necessarily your own. Such assumptions alienate your users from the get-go. You'll develop a much more friendly atmosphere if you take care of the troublemakers as they appear - meeting new and interesting people is after all a big part of the fun of taking part in a website.
Third, don't use your whole index page for political motives. I personally recommend displaying a spotlight or a few recent items of content from elsewhere on the site to give new visitors a good look at what's going on and encourage them to browse; a nondescript index page gets you lots of bounces and an index page full of rambling repels. Acknowledging that you are rambling or about to ramble doesn't make it okay either; text has a graphical impression and people are more likely to skim undecorated (i.e. with images, columns, horizontal rules etc) text and pass judgment on that rather than actually read it. Of course, not being a plain hypocrite helps get people reading; anyone who read:
Quote: Furdome is a community in wich certain matters are ignored to avoid the possibility that untrue (that's my favourite bit) furs might sign up.
then kept reading after sentence two or three of the 4-ish paragraph long essay on the author's interpretation of furry deserves a gold star. The author in fact went through great pains to elaborate on that which they stated (in one perfectly sufficient sentence) they intended to ignore. Essentailly, if you need to have a lot of text in one spot on any page, but especially your index page, it needs to be functional and provide real information. Make sure the text body is rich with keywords and links for skimmers to pick up on.
I wish I could give them at least some stars for their site design because that, at least is fairly sound but the actual site has no substance; most of the pages are simply descriptions with a link to a (separately themed, even!!) applet. It is always worth the effort to if not integrate then at least skin any third party packages into your site.

I am the owner of the Furdome site.
I'm uncertain about your motives to post this here but you must know that I am an independant & married shopkeeper that hardly has any spare time left on his hands to properly edit anything at home.
And I simply do not trust anyone to temper with my panel when I'm not able to (passed experiences).
The point of my site/forum is mainly to make sure that furries that care to come here, are protected from any crap wich they might experience in other places on the web.
I am not entirely satisfied with how you spoke about Furdome, but at the very least I'm gratefull that you posted a link here wich can now serve as a commercial ^^
And even then I shouldn't feel offended since your post is based on an older version of my front page wich was updated a while ago, I was unaware that this text was still on there seeing as I no longer see "Furry" the way I did then (with reason).
Suprised I post here? Or did you think I wasn't here from the start ^^
I might have standards but that doesn't mean I'm perfect
